Thorin, Bilbo and the dwarves find a map. On the map is some writing. The writing is in the Dwarf language and written in rune-letters. The letters are a code. Not only that they are written in moon ink:
"Moon-letters are rune-letters, but you cannot see them," said Elrond, "not when you look straight at them. They can only be seen when the moon shines behind them, and what is more, with the more cunning sort it must be a moon of the same shape and season as the day when they were written.

ReplyDeleteThe message on the far left of the map reads: "Five feet high the dor and three may wolk abreast." This means that the door is five feet tall and three dwarves will fit through it side-by-side.
